Il Ritz di Londra, un sogno di hotel (English version too)

Gli hotel sono luoghi in cui tutto può succedere, crocevia di incontri, lingue, di storie, edifici e ospiti che testimoniano la Storia, appuntamenti desiderati o mancati, vacanze da sogno o punti di riferimento per lavoro. L’hotel non solo è tra i più lussuosi e raffinati del mondo, ma è ricco di storia e di personalità della politica, della cultura e dell’arte che vi hanno soggiornato. Inoltre, l’albergo è stata l’ultima ‘’casa’’ della Lady di Ferro, l’ex Primo Ministro britannico Margaret Thatcher, che trascorse i suoi ultimi mesi di vita in una delle suite.

Qualche curiosità che riguarda l’iconico hotel nella cultura popolare: recentemente una sequenza di una cena nella serie tv Downton Abbey è stata girata nella sala del ristorante. Lo scrittore britannico Evelyn Waugh ambienta una scena del suo racconto, Work Suspended ( 1942 ), al Ritz. Nel romanzo ‘’Good Omens’’( 1990 ) degli autori britannici Terry Pratchett e Neil Gaiman, i due protagonisti frequentano spesso l’hotel londinese.

Il solo nome del Ritz evoca classe, storia e raffinatezza, ed essendo un luogo esclusivo osserva un codice di abbigliamento che i suoi ospiti sono tenuti a rispettare. Per i pranzi, le cene e il thè del pomeriggio sono obbligatori la giacca e la cravatta per gli uomini e per entrambi i sessi non sono ammessi jeans, scarpe da ginnastica e abbigliamento da palestra.  

Mancano pochi mesi al Natale e perché non trascorrerlo in questo luogo incantevole con i grandi caminetti accesi e le sale elegantemente adornate con addobbi natalizi? The Ritz, rich in history, is one of the  most luxurious and sophisticated hotels around the world; with  guests including those from politics, cultural and the arts world enjoying all that this famous hotel has to offer.
